Every Skin is Different
Every skin is different, and no one knows your skin better than you do!
At Yin Yang Skincare we have built up a directory of skin types and skin conditions to help you identify the features that best describe your skin and its condition.
Knowing your skin type and understanding your skin condition is the key to developing a skincare routine that is appropriate for your skin. When you have defined these things, it then becomes easy to choose the skincare products that will work most successfully to keep your skin in optimum condition.
The Structure of Your Skin
1. The Stratum corneum – is the uppermost layer of the skin’s epidermis, and it is composed entirely of dead cells.
2. The Epidermis – is the upper portion of the skin consisting of four distinct cell layers.
• Only cells in the lower first and second layers of the epidermis can form new skin cells,
• When new cells form they rise to the skin’s upper most surface as they mature to form increasingly flattened and hardened cells at the skin surface before sloughing off.
3. The Dermis – is the middle portion of the skin consisting of cells of collagen, and elastin fibre-making capability and also containing blood vessels, nerve endings, sweat glands, hair follicles etc.
4. The Sub-cutis – is the lower portion of the skin consisting of fat cells, blood vessels, nerve fibres, and lower portions of active hair follicles and sweat glands.
